If it doesn't work try to manually register it as executable using the following command (sometimes you have to call it twice to make it work):

chmod +x /Applications/Sims4TrayImporter.app/Contents/MacOS/Sims4TrayImporter

I dont understand what is meant by using command?

You need to open the Terminal app, write the command, then press Enter. This will set the missing executable bit.

If you don't feel it, you can ask someone to do it for you. :/

You don't need to download anything.

Terminal should be already installed on your Mac. It's a command line tool.

But try this first:

Hello there!

I am trying to get rid of some faulty cc and the tray importer downloaded fine but I opened it and now its stuck in a never ending loop on the "config game" window. I've clicked the little dots and rerouting it, making sure it was to the same place as the downloaded game, but when it restarts to "apply changes," it opens back up to the config game window again with the old location. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the tray importer multiple times, but it ends up doing the same thing every single time. Help would be much appreciated!

Hello @ttmarie19,

Yeah, it's a known bug, for unknown reason the settings are not saved. :ermm:

Here's a workaround:

  1. Open Finder, then browse to your Documents folder.
  2. Create a folder name "Sims 4 Tray Importer" w/o the quotes.
  3. Download Sims4.GameInfos.Settings.zip and extract Sims4.GameInfos.Settings.xml in that folder.
  4. Restart S4TI
  5. Apply your settings then save the changes.
  6. Restart S4TI if needed
  7. See if it fix the problem

That will cause S4TI to use the setting file stored in your Documents folder rather than the one stored in the preferences folder. ^_^

Should I try uninstalling S4TI and reinstalling it?

I don't think that reinstalling it will change anything.

Try to manually edit the xml file by entering the same value as in the Config dialog.

Just to be sure, did you download the latest version from here: http://luniversims.com/files/file/389-sims-4-tray-importer-for-mac/

Hello! So I've tried everything I can think of to get the tray importer to work but I've had no luck. I'm stuck here:

Yes there is a bug. I'm trying to figure out what's going on but this may take awhile since I don't have a Mac.

Hello @TheSimmingBibliophile,

Which version of Mono have you installed?

Open Terminal, then type mono --version

Try this if the command works:

If the double-click doesn't work, right-click on the app then select Open.

Also look here: How to open a Mac app from an unidentified developer and follow the Open the app in System Preferences step.

hi

please could you help me, it still wont open it bounces back and displays the error message "The application “Sims4TrayImporter” can’t be opened." every single time I try, so far I have done all the terminal commands yet they haven't made a difference, I have also installed the latest version of mono and I have macOS sierra 10.12.6, what else am I suppose to do? I've right-clicked and tried to open it whilst holding down control, and I have followed the guide you linked on how to open applications from unidentified developers, nothing has helped 😞 any advice would be appreciated because I have been trying to fix this for ages now.

thanks ❤️

Hello @Lexibaii,

What version of Mono have you downloaded?

Check the Mono version, open Terminal then type mono --version

If version isn't 5.18, uninstall Mono and and reinstall it.

hey @deevo

I finally got it to work i don't even know how, I restarted my mac, then re-entered the terminal commands about a hundred times and it something must have changed because I can now use it thank you!! however I still have some concerns I am unable to use the "replace" feature to change my thumbnails, I have held down control whilst trying to click on the files and I have enabled the right-click, it is still not working, have I done something wrong why can't I use this feature?

Selecting an item from the library should be enough to enable it.
